On the 29th September, members of Middlesex North West County had the pleasure of attending the Girlguiding Celebrates event at the Odeon Luxe, Leicester Square—an afternoon of performances, recognition, and a whole lot of sparkle! With Girlguiding members from all over the UK, it was a truly spectacular celebration.
We had been asked to wear our Girlguiding uniforms—but to add a special twist: a bit of sparkle! This ranged from sparkly jewellery to sequinned jackets!
We were treated to a Gangshow from the Wiltshire Guides and Scouts who performed a dance routine, sung and performed a brilliant comedy sketch that had us chuckling. There was a heart warming choir performance, and a Drum group brought incredible energy to the crowd with their rhythmic beats and Girlguiding inspired light display.
What made the afternoon even more special were the glowing wristbands we wore, which lit up at key moments to recognise particular volunteers, a very clever touch. This included volunteers nominated to attend, recipients of the Queen’s Guide Award, and those presented with Laurel or Silver Fish Awards.
The event was hosted by our Chief Guide, Deputy Chief Guide, and Assistant Chief Guide, who brought their passion and energy to the stage. They took the time to celebrate every person in the room, highlighting what a supportive community Girlguiding and how important it is to lift fellow volunteers.
Of course, no Girlguiding event is complete without badges! We all received special badges to commemorate the afternoon, and badges from the Chief Guide Team. We were also treated to a food goodie bag, filled with snacks to enjoy throughout the evening and a choice of prosecco or rose lemonade to sip while we enjoyed the event.
The Girlguiding Celebrates event at Odeon Luxe was not only an afternoon of entertainment but also one of gratitude, recognition, and community. From the dazzling uniforms to the glowing wristbands, it was a celebration that perfectly captured the essence of Girlguiding: fun, friendship, and making a difference.
It was a privilege to be surrounded by such inspiring individuals. Here’s to another year of celebrating our achievements and shining bright—just like the sparkles at the event.”
